Meghan Athavale - Entrepreneur, President of PO-MO Inc.

How can we design a better way to learn?

Kids learn best by doing, and access to information has increased so much that they are also amazing little content providers. My goal is to create tools that allow kids, educators and parents to build interactive floor and wall games and share their creations online.

PO-MO Inc. creates interactive software and designs installations for motion and gesture controlled environments. Recently, PO-MO received funding from the Canadian Media Fund's Experimental Stream to build and promote PO-MOtion, a free interactive floor and wall program that works on any computer using any web camera and projector or TV.

Meghan is now working directly with children and parents to help refine tools for PO-MOtion. By late December, children, parents, and educators will be able to make their own interactive floors and walls directly on the website, share them with a community of users, and develop their ideas together.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
