At the age of 21, Nathan Roberts and a friend founded and started Sibanya Township Restaurant in Hout Bay. Having grown up in Hout Bay, Nathan was fully aware of growing up in a segregated environment. Together with this friend Randy McKnight, who wanted to be the chef but could not read or write, they developed Sibanya Township Restaurant in an attempt to empower Randy, and address the racial segregation of the community.
Nathan has been selected as one of South Africa's 100 Brightest Young Minds in 2011 and is currently completing his Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
