Beto estudou na Penn State University, foi vencedor do prêmio Skoll 2010 e é um dos fundadores do Instituto do Homem e Meio Ambiente da Amazônia (Imazon), onde é pesquisador sênior. Nesta palestra ele fala sobre a importância das escolhas que fazemos hoje para o futuro da Amazônia. Para Beto, a conservação da floresta é um desafio que requer otimismo e um salto evolutivo capaz de conciliar políticas públicas e tecnologia à ampliação de nosso olhar pessoal a respeito de como vemos a nós mesmos, nossos hábitos de consumo e é claro, a maior floresta tropical do globo.

Beto studied at Penn State University, won the 2010 Skoll Award and is one of the founders of the Institute of Man and Environment of the Amazon (Imazon), where he is a senior researcher. In this talk, he speaks about the importance of the choices we make today for the future of the Amazon. For Beto, forest conservation is a challenge that requires optimism and an evolutionary leap capable of conciliating public policies and technology with the enlargement of our perception of ourselves, our consuming habits and, of course, the largest tropical forest in the world.
