ABC News correspondent David Hardaker examines how Egypt's traditional news outlets are relying on internet bloggers to circumvent state control of the media.

David Hardaker was appointed ABC News Middle East correspondent in 2006. As a senior reporter and presenter David Hardaker has covered the biggest domestic and international stories for the ABC.

He has worked on a number of the ABCs flagship television programs, from Four Corners to The 7.30 Report to Foreign Correspondent. On radio David has been reporter, presenter and executive producer on the networks daily current affairs programmes, AM, PM and The World Today.

David joined the ABC after working at the Nine Networks 60 Minutes program where he specialised in investigations.

David was born in Australia but has a special passion for languages and speaks Arabic, French, German and Italian.
