In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

A TEDxWomen Event is a TEDx event featuring live local speakers as well as a webcast of a talk from the program of TEDxWomen, a one-day TEDx event in the Paley Centers in NYC and LA on 1 Dec 2011, hosted by Pat Mitchell. As women, in what ways does the creation and negotiation of our 'self' precede conscious choice? How do we begin to make those decisions more conscious? How do women create our own realities, write stories rather than read other's, design our own definition of "success"? What are the tools we need to share with younger generations to change our collective futures?

Yogis, lawyers, activists, business-owners, pioneers, wives, mothers, meditators and daughters all come together to reinforce the truth that only we can and should be the definer of what success means for each of us. Galvanize power to do this in our own lives by sharing with other women who care about creating better futures for all women, and start with themselves.

Caroline Counsel
In the 152 year history of the Law Institute of Victoria, the peak body representing the solicitors of Victoria, there are only 5 women who have been made President. Caroline Counsel is the 5th. Caroline is an Accredited Family Law Specialist and a Collaborative Practitioner. As a Collaborative Lawyer, Caroline signs contracts with her clients never to go to Court. Instead of focusing on the "fight", all of her efforts are aimed at the best possible outcome for the family as a whole.
