Genetic variation is a key factor for biodiversity both in the short and long run. But why is the genetic level of biodiversity not handled stronger politically?

Kerstin Johannesson is professor in Marine Ecology at the University of Gothenburg, director of the Linnaeus Research Centre in Marine Evolutionary Biology (CeMEB) and coordinator of EU-BONUS research programme BaltGene.
