Chris Bentley, the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs of Ontario, talks about the power of inspiring positive change in our Far North communities. In areas of the province that have suffered from painful social conditions for over 200 years, he has provided children with access to organized sports and physical activity programs for the first time. This initiative has helped the youth of First Nations families to form lasting friendships, attend school and stay off the streets. Chris challenges everyone, politicians and voters alike, to inspire change in the lives of children who need it most.

TEDxUWO is the official TEDx conference for The University of Western Ontario in London, Canada.

The theme of this inaugural conference was Own Your Passion. A total of 200 spots were reserved for audience members, while thousands more across the country joined via satellite locations and live video stream.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
