REBECCA JALLINGS teaches Drama and English at Madison West High School in Madison, Wisconsin, where she has directed and produced over 100 plays and musicals. In 1997 Jallings created Multico, an innovative student-led multicultural theater troupe. In her talk, she shares the story of Multico' s evolution as a highly sought after program that helps teachers, students, families, and communities to develop the capacity for more meaningful dialog and appreciation about and across differences. Each year, Multico visits elementary, middle, and high schools
throughout the district, performing student-created skits and leading dialogs about race, gender, religion, and other differences. Jallings illustrates how Multico changed her teaching philosophy and practices, and how it has helped hundreds of students become clearer about their own
identities and develop into leaders and teachers for others. In telling the story of students learning to be the change they most want to create in the world, and teach others, Jallings' talk embodies the theme of TEDxMadtown -- Watch One, Do One, Teach One!
