Robert Weeks, Co-Creator, Underheard in New York

Robert currently works as an intern at the ad agency BBH New York where he co-created and developed Underheard in New York, a 21st-century advocacy initiative. Underheard leverages the permanence and accessibility of Twitter's social media platform to allow a traditionally captured demographic - homeless New Yorkers - to speak for themselves. Prior to re-locating to New York from Texas to participate in the BBH Barn internship, Robert attended The University of Texas at Austin and worked in marketing and web design. Robert plans to find a job without an expiration date (read: internship) as soon as BBH Barn ends.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDx42ndStreet, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDx42ndStreet event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
