Samantha is a junior at Newbury Park High School. Science has been her passion since middle school and she has won numerous awards in science fairs at county, state and national levels since the sixth grade. Most recently, she was
awarded the 2010 Outstanding Young Scientist of California by the California Association of Professional Scientists, for her work on mussel adhesion. Her extracurricular activities include being a pretrial attorney in her school's mock trial team and volunteering at Discovery Teens and Los Robles Hospital. Samantha is also an ardent movie fan.

TEDxConejo, an independently organized TED event, was held in Thousand Oaks, Ca on March 26, 2011. The conference theme was Energy, using that word very broadly to go beyond what powers our homes and transportation but really what fuels life. What energizes business, education, health, and ideas? What energizes you? A broad mix of thinkers and doers characterizes the TEDx experience both on the stage and in the audience.
