TEDxPalermo - Marco Ferrari - A New Genetics of Visualization May 31, 2011
The TEDxPalermo Talk by Marco Ferrari was held in the afternoon of April 30th. The location due to bad weather was changed at the very last minute with the studio427. Taking the Genetics terms as a paradigm to explain how far Visual Design can go in our time, the Talk is a survey to help understanding the complexity of comprehensive design and architecture for new generations. Marco Ferrari (with Ludovico Centis, Matteo Ghidoni, Fabio Gigone, Michele Marchetti e Giovanni Piovene) is one of the founders of Salottobuono studio, born in Venice in 2005 as a collector of research experiences and design production. Today the Salottobuono's activity consists of competitions, workshops, university teaching, publications projects and design assignments. Since 2007 Salottobuono is editor of the column "Istruzioni per l'uso" for the magazine "Abitare", and from April 2011 it will be engaged in the Creative Direction of the new "Domus". In 2008 the studio was involved in the Italian Pavilion of the Architecture Biennale of Venice, in the section "L'Italia cerca casa - Housing Italy". In 2010 the studio published "Manual of Decolonization" an instruction manual ( o trainer manual ) for the transformation of Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Salottobuono, in cooperation with Francesco Librizzi, developed the set up exhibition of the Italian Pavilion at the XII Architecture Biennale of Venice. In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading", TED has created a program called TEDx, of local events, organized independently, that bring people together to share an experience similar to the one you live with TED. The TED Conference provides general guidance for all the TEDx events, but local events are made independently.
