طبيب وجراح سوري المولد كندي الجنسية ومفكر إسلامي معاصر، من مواليد 1945م في القامشلي شمال شرق سورية. يتكلم اللغتين الألمانية والإنكليزية بالإضافة إلىالعربية، وتخرج من كلية الطب عام 1971 وكلية الشريعة 1974. سافر إلى ألمانيا وأتم هناك تخصصه في جراحة الأوعية الدموية، وعاش فيها حتى عام 1982. حصَل على دكتوراه في الجراحة . عاد من ألمانيا ليستقر في السعودية فعمل كرئيس لوحدة جراحة الأوعية الدموية ,في مستشفى الملك فهد التخصصي ببريدة في القصيم بالسعودية. ألف وكتب في مجال تنوير وتحرير العقل الإسلامي ونبذ العنف والانتقال إلى المعاصرة وضرورة العدالة. من أشهر كتبه كتاب "النقد الذاتي"، لكنه قد لا يكون أهم ما كتبه. يتميز أسلوبه بسحر خاص في قلمه، وبقدرة فريدة على تطويع الكلمات وتوضيح المعاني.
