In this eye-opening talk, Brennan Bird shares his experiences attempting to promote sustainability. One of his projects, involves using "bottle bricks" in order to recycle our waste in a simple and convenient way. He asks us to use these simple ideas in our everyday life to make a better tomorrow.

Brennan Blazer Bird is a recent UC Davis graduate and former resident of the Domes on-campus community. He earned a B.A. degree in Nature and Culture and is currently working as an ecological educator in the Bay Area, teaching students in East Palo Alto and Oakland about sustainability issues. He is an avid environmental activist and believes we can all turn our ideals about sustainability into real action. He saved his trash for the entire year of 2010 and was awarded the title of "Greenest Student" by the ThinkGreenLiveClean online blog. He is also a proponent of Portable Landfill Devices, plastic bottle "bricks" stuffed with trash that are used to build houses and other structures around the world. In addition to his zero waste projects, he teaches workshops on composting and solar cooking.

About TEDx, x=independently organize event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event.
