Dr Tim Hawkes is a leading authority on educating boys, and is Headmaster of one of Australia's most well-known and respected boys' schools, The King's School, Parramatta. Dr Hawkes has been a strong contributor to educational debate and is frequently called upon as a conference speaker both nationally and internationally. He is Chairman of the Australian Boarding Schools Association (ABSA), Chairman of the Headmasters' Conference of New South Wales. He has written Duty of Care, a certificate course in residential care. He is the author of Boy oh Boy, a popular book on how to raise and educate boys, and has resulted in Dr Hawkes taking a leading role in promoting ideas on how best to meet the pastoral and academic needs of boys. Dr Hawkes has recently written a series of four books on Learning Leadership.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
