Scott Walters is the founder and Director of the Center for Rural Arts Development and Leadership Education (CRADLE), an organization that supports the creation of sustainable arts organizations in small and rural communities and the education arts leaders for those organizations. He is also an Associate Professor of Drama at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, and the long-time writer of the Theatre Ideas blog. Scott inspires us at TEDxMichiganAve to spread the arts throughout the world and into the local life wherever we live.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
