José Raúl González Merlo is a professor of finance and economics at Universidad Francisco Marroquín, where he served as dean of the School of Economic Sciences and the Business School. He is currently a member of UFM's Board of Trustees.

He has held several posts at multinational companies and currently writes an opinion column on economics in the Guatemalan newspaper Prensa Libre.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
