Having majored in International Relations (BA) at the University of Colombo, Thiagi's focus and interest lies primarily in human rights specifically women and youth, gender, conflict, development and politics. She is currently reading for a LLB at the Open University, Sri Lanka. She is also part of 'The Young Researchers' Collective (the YRC)' which is essentially a collective of young people working to bridge the gap between activism, advocacy and research.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
