Antonio Garza was born and raised in South Texas near the U.S./Mexico border. When asked what language he spoke as a kid, he would earnestly respond: "Both." His interest in language led him to teach English to adults at institutes and Universities in Brazil, China, El Paso and New Orleans, as well as spending three years teaching Spanish in a New Orleans public high school. Meanwhile, his essays and short stories have been published in literary journals and magazines in Mexico and the US, and he has performed his one-man show "Men in Uniform" at the Fringe Festival in New Orleans and Minneapolis, and at private venues in Paris, France and Spartanburg.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
