Curt McPhail is the Program Officer for the Mary Black Foundation in Spartanburg, SC. The Mary Black Foundation is a private foundation focused on early childhood development and active living. Curt is a 1996 graduate of Wofford College. In his spare time Curt loves spending time with his wife and two boys' ages 10 and 6. Curt is also an avid cyclist, bike commuter, and is the founder of Globalbike, an organization that uses the transformative power of bicycles to create social change and solve challenges throughout the developing world.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
