Four years ago Barack Obama promised to make Medicare prescriptions affordable. As president he signed the Affordable Care Act which shrunk the Medicare doughnut hole in prescription drug coverage, reduced the cost of prescription drugs for nearly 3.6 million Americans in 2011, and saved Americans in the doughnut hole an average of $600 in 2011.
