Andrea Poli is a biomedical and clinical engineer with many years of experience in health-care standards and interoperability rules, as well as in open source technologies. He started his career in the Bioengineering and ICT group of the University of Trieste, following the development of software solutions for medical image management. During those years he also got the position of contract professor in the same University for courses focused on standards and interoperability in healthcare. In 2004 he has been one of the promoter of the O3 Consortium Project, whose goal is to propose open source software solutions for the healthcare. In 2008 he co-founded o3 Enterprise, a spin-off company of the University of Trieste, which aims to offer professional services on o3 Consortium solutions and contributing to the project's further development. He is currently the CEO of o3 Enterprise and the technical director of the O3 Consortium Project.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
