The Naked Runners emerged in November 2010 after a passionate Physiotherapist and an excitable Exercise Scientist went for a run around the foreshore and city beaches of Newcastle. Through the use of new and social media, Dave Robertson and Silas Moss are well positioned to make a difference in the lives of people in the local and global community. The Naked Runners mission is to reduce the social and economical burden of lifestyle related disease in the community. This movement about movement is creating a meaningful, grass-roots response to the pending health crisis of diabesity and depression. By teaching people to ditch the distractions, The Naked Runners believe that the barriers to physical activity will be broken down and the doors of a thriving and connected community will be flung wide open.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
