ABIOLA ADEOLA is a senior Human Resource Management major at Temple University, where facilitates a leadership development seminar, among other activities. She recently spent a semester at sea with Archbishop Desmond Tutu as a distinguished speaker, and brings her wealth of knowledge from this experience to her TEDxTalk.

In her TEDxTalk, Abiola discusses the importance of education for today's African youth. She begins by sharing in the story of King Leopold III of Belgium's takeover of the African Congo by exploiting the illiteracy of its leaders, and uses this point to segue into the current figures of illiteracy in Africa. Her talk goes on to touch on the needs of today's emerging leaders to embrace government and their personal ideals as ways to solve the problems of illiteracy in Africa and to improve the focus on education in African nations.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
