At the age of 24, Jonathan bought his first collection of buildings in Joburg's inner city. These were transformed into the space that is now Arts on Main. The subsequent developments, Main Street Life, Revolution House, The Main Change and Fox Street Studios, have all formed part of the creation of The Maboneng Precinct: a vision for a regenerated Joburg City.

At TEDxStellenbosch 2011, Jonathan talks about how his projects have developed a vibrant community and creative hub.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
